Guide: GTX 580 Stock Cooler Removal / Replacement

Today we will be taking a look at Nvidia's GTX 580 & demonstrate how to remove the stock cooling. The overall process is fairly simple. But do know before you start taking apart your GPU you will need a few tools.

  • TorX T6 screw driver (Sample)
  • Small phillips screw driver
  • Lint free cloth to remove Thermal Paste
  • Clean dust free area
  • Optional: Thermal Material Remover (We recommend ArctiClean)

As most of you know Nvidia released the GTX 580 which is now their new Flag Ship GPU. The GTX 580 is what many are saying the GTX 480 should have been, as it ships with full memory & sharders unlocked with a powerful 512 CUDA Cores. Stock clocks for the gTX 580 will come in at 77MHz Core clock with the shaders clocking in at an impressive 1544Mhz. Standard memory configuration for the GTX 580 with be 1536 MB GDDR5 clocking at 2004MHz paired with an obvious 384-bit memory interface.

The GTX 580 is able to run Dual, Tri & Quad SLI and will support all of Nvidia's current technology such as DX11, 3D, Pure Video, PhysX and more... Check out our unboxing of the GTX 580 below.
